What is Silicon Metal?
Metallic silicon, also known as metallurgical-grade silicon or simply metallurgical silicon, is a form of silicon primarily used in aluminum alloy production and silicones. It is produced through the reduction of silica (SiO2) with carbon in an electric arc furnace, resulting in a high-purity silicon product.
According to the content of iron, aluminum and calcium, silicon metal can be divided into 553, 441, 411, 421, 3303, 3305, 2202, 2502, 1501, 1101 and other different grades.
Function
Silicon Metal is silver gray or dark gray powder with metallic luster, featuring high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity and superior oxidation resistance.
With these exceptional properties, it's called "industrial glutamate" and serves as an essential basic raw material in hi-tech industries.
