High Efficient Top Thermal Conductivity Silicon Carbide For Steelmaking Raw Materials
Black silicon carbide is produced at high temperature in an electric resistance type furnace with quartz sand and petroleum coke as its main raw materials. Its hardness is between fused alumina and synthetic diamond. Mechanical intensity of it is higher than fused alumina. It is brittle and sharp, has electrical and heat conductivity to some degree.
Silicon carbide is widely used in glass industry, ceramic industry, stone industry, refractory industry, iron industry, and non-ferrous industry. With Mohs hardness grade of 9.5 (second only to diamond), it features excellent thermal conductivity, semiconductor properties, and high-temperature oxidation resistance.
Due to its chemical stability, high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient, and abrasion resistance, silicon carbide is mainly applied in four areas: functional ceramics, advanced refractory materials, abrasives, and metallurgical materials.
