Calcium Silicon is a compound alloy composed of silicon, calcium and ferro. It serves as an ideal compound deoxidizer and desulfurizer for various steel types including rail steel, low carbon steel, stainless steel, and special alloys like Ni base alloy and titanium base alloy. CaSi alloy also functions effectively as a heat raiser in convertor steelmaking and as an inoculant or additive in cast iron and nodular cast iron production.

Calcium and silicon exhibit strong affinity with oxygen, with calcium particularly effective against sulfur and nitrogen. This makes calcium silicon an excellent composite deoxidizer and desulfurizer. The silicon component provides powerful deoxidizing capability, facilitating the removal of deoxidized products while enhancing steel properties including plasticity, impact toughness, fluidity, and ductility. Calcium silicon alloy can effectively replace aluminum for final deoxidation processes.
